Last month we asked you to tell us how you were going green in your daily lives in honor of the launch of our Go! Green series. Here is our contest winner:
I thought about what it really means to be green. Swapping out my light bulbs for more efficient types and yes making sure that lights and any and all other unnecessary electrical devices where turned off. But having 4 teenagers is a never ending task, running from room to room and making sure to turn lights TV's radios and curling irons off. The following monthly statement was $52.00 cheaper. Plus I was getting a work out. Than I got a bright idea. I knew I had and old generator from my bike. Ya I'm an old fart" You know the friction type, before LED'S and rechargeable batteries. I retrofitted the little generator to a tread mill that the neighbor put out in the trash last December. I also wired it up to a backup battery for computers. Here's the specs: if I run just 1 mile every other day I can run my laptop for about 7 hours. First and foremost I lost 18 lbs. And I now walk to work. 2nd. I saved room in the land fill from the treadmill and the toxic lead acid battery. 3rd I have free power for my laptop. I hope this brings a smile to you people at Powercolor. Please keep up the good work.

Thanks,
Your leaner and Greener friend Dan
